Well it is New Year’s Eve. Some of you will choose to tear into our next lap around the sun like a wild tiger chasing fleeting prey till the break of day. Others may spend the evening sipping tea and gazing at the falling flakes in anticipation of smashing tomorrows snowbanks with friendly mates. Whatever fancies you, enjoy it. Just like this little gaffer enjoys his oversize mushrooms and money bags. Boldog Ujévet!!

A structural failing in a tower of Whistler-Blackcomb’s Excalibur caused the gondola to bounce the cars up and down. Twice some cars struck the ground before settling. The tower partly collapsed and in turn the cable sagged considerably. It appears that everyone involved escaped with no serious injuries.

Workers examine the gondola support tower at Whistler that broke Tuesday injuring 12 people.

One gondola cabin remains on top of a bus shelter Tuesday night after the partial collapse of a gondola tower at Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler. (CBC)

Dustin Koop is in charge of shapes and colors at Transworld Snowboarding Magazine or in other words; He is the Art Director. It looks like he took some time away from TWS to get gnarly on a 2007/08 Electro Lab. Dustin shows us his creative methods in TWS but check them out on Mammoth. He is executing the perfect form and style for a classic one.

Tyler Daku of Regina’s OffAxis Boardshop tells riders across the country not to take riding for granted. His thoughts were recently published in the Fall 08 issue of Snowboard Canada’s Talk Back section. Tyler’s optimism and support made us do three fist pumps when we saw him name drop his local board artisans (yours truly).
Tyler writes:
” All we really have to show for the lack of deep-ass pow are a few sponsored riders and one of the best locally-owned jib deck manufacturers in the world, classfivesnowboards.com.”
Thanks to Tyler as well as the rest of you who continue to support Class Five Snowboards.
